Ovarian Cancer

  • Histopathologic evaluation of ovarian biopsies.
  • BRCA1 & BRCA2 analysis – 10-20% of high grade ovarian cancers are associated with germline mutations of BRCA1/2.
  • KRAS/BRAF somatic mutations are relatively common in these tumors.
  • PTEN mutations appear in up to 20% of Low Grade Serous (Type I) tumors and 20-31% of Endometrioid (Type I) tumors.
  • PIK3CA mutations appear in 20-33% of Clear Cell (Type I) tumors and in 20% of Endometioid (Type I) tumors.
